Celebrating International Credit Union Day

Today marks International Credit Union Day, a day that “celebrates the spirit of the global credit union movement.” This year’s theme, “Dreams Thrive Here” perfectly ties into what credit unions do to help sick and injured kids.

America’s credit unions have been invaluable partners of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals through the Credit Unions for Kids program.

Funds raised by credit unions support a variety of different programs and services. One of the unique programs funded by CU4Kids partner, Desert Schools Federal Credit Union, is “1 Darn Cool School” at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Among other things, one of the interruptions kids face while going through treatment is in their schooling. 1 Darn Cool School aims “to provide educational and academic services for children and families at Phoenix Children’s Hospital.” The 1 Darn Cool School provides year-round individualized instruction for all students, grades K-12 either in a classroom environment or even at child’s bedside if needed.

1 Darn Cool School is just one of the many reasons to celebrate credit unions today and the impact they’ve made on local kids throughout the country. In support of International Credit Union Day, a number of credit unions are participating in the “Shop for Miracles” campaign today. Participating credit unions will make a donation to their local CMN Hospital on behalf of their cardholders. Visit your local credit union and ask what they do to support CU4Kids.
