12th Annual ABC15 Telethon Raises a Record-Breaking $1.2 Million for Phoenix Children’s

The 12th Annual ABC15 Telethon, benefitting Phoenix Children’s Hope Fund, raised more than $1.2 million on Wednesday, April 10, making it the highest earning telethon in the program’s history. A Hero for Hope donation of $20 a month or a one-time gift of $240 or more is made and celebrated by delivering a ‘Superhero Sidekick’ stuffed animal to a child in the hospital, bringing smiles and a furry companion to patients battling illness.

“We are profoundly grateful to our viewers and community partners for their generosity,” expressed Anita Helt, vice president and regional general manager at ABC15 Arizona. “Their support enables Phoenix Children’s to provide a beacon of hope and essential care for children in need, ensuring access to top medical care regardless of financial background. Together, we’re creating a brighter future for Arizona families.”

The Telethon included a phone bank staffed by sponsors and community volunteers, and inspirational stories ranging from Child Life, Language Assistance, Volunteer Services, and more. ABC15’s Sonoran Living, hosted by Terri Ouellette and Heidi Goitia, devoted their entire show to the Telethon. ABC15 News covered the Telethon in every newscast and social media platform throughout the day.

Phoenix Children’s ranks among the top five largest pediatric health systems in the United States, boasting three hospital locations, a major freestanding ambulatory site equipped with an emergency room, and more than 650 inpatient beds. With every new expansion of hospital and ambulatory locations, families will enjoy more convenient access to the highest level of expertise.

Phoenix Children’s Hope Fund enables the hospital to invest in state-of-the-art equipment and technology, cutting-edge research and clinical trials, innovative clinical programs and family-centered services. Children facing challenges such as congenital heart defects, skeletal dysplasia, leukemia, and various other complex health conditions rely on Phoenix Children’s for vital lifesaving medical treatment. Grateful for ABC15’s support and the broader community, Phoenix Children’s is empowered to deliver top-tier, family-focused care to children and families in Arizona and beyond.

“We extend our appreciation to ABC15 and its viewers,” said Steve Schnall, senior vice president and chief development officer of Phoenix Children’s Foundation. “The stories told during the Telethon truly demonstrate the significant impact that the Foundation has on patient lives. Through remarkable fundraising initiatives such as the ABC15 Telethon, we can sustain our commitment to delivering world-class care to our patients.”
